Class Description

Ladies Beginner Handgun Class

This eight-hour class is designed for ladies with no previous experience handling handguns. Our goal is to make sure you are safe and confident, starting with the four rules of safety, giving you the foundational knowledge you need to handle your handgun, and developing your marksmanship. We want to empower you to defend yourself and your loved ones.

After a short presentation at our Alaska Tactical training room, we’ll spend the majority of the day at the range. Our first step will be a dryfire (no ammunition in gun) sequence that will familiarize you with your handgun. You’ll practice and know what each button and lever does, how to run the slide, and how to press check. We’ll show you the best stances and grips, then show you how to align your sights and press the trigger.

When you know how it all works, we’ll start shooting live rounds so you can develop your marksmanship. No stress if it’s not perfect at first, our qualified instructors are there to help. We’ll make sure you have plenty of time to practice your new skills.

You will leave this class with a solid base in safety, knowing how your handgun operates, and being able to hit your target. You will load, unload, and reload your weapon. Our instructors will show you everything you need to know, personalized to your handgun and your specific needs.

“The ladies-only defensive handgun was excellent. This was a great way to become familiar with firearm use, safety, and range protocol. All the staff were professional and helpful. A shout-out to Sue who patiently took us through a step-by-step methodical instruction on how to handle our firearm and feel confident… I highly recommend this class to all women.”
