DEFENSIVE HANDGUN Course

This is a full 3 day intermediate pistol course that progresses from the Defensive Handgun Course – Level 1. If the participant has had formal training on the Modern Technique of Pistol in the past, this course will help refresh their skills. In addition, a complete curriculum of movement is added to the fundamental of individual gun handling techniques and tactics. The course will review safety rules, mindset, basic drills and positions. There will also be introductions to the following: forward, backward and lateral movement shooting; use of cover; some flashlight techniques; and incapacitation/injury drills.

Requirements

Students must have successfully completed the Defensive Handgun Course – Level I and have either a valid Alaska Concealed Carry Permit, provide current military or law enforcement identification, or have obtained a State of Alaska background check prior to participating in this training.

± Good attitude ± 9mm or larger caliber handgun ¤ If you do not have a handgun, one can be rented for a nominal fee ± Heavy-duty handgun system ¤ Strong-side, outside the pants hip holster with fully enclosed trigger guard for safety purposes, either thumb-break or friction fit retention system ¤ Ammunition carrier, speed loaders for revolvers or 3 magazines and 3 spares for semi-automatics ± 1,000 rounds of ammo ¤ Provided by the participant ± Appropriate clothing ¤ Ball cap, BDU pants, closed toe footwear, rain gear, etc.

± Completed Application for Training ± Mandatory protective gear ¤ Safety glasses and hearing protection ¤ Protective gear can be provided by Alaska Tactical upon request ± Recommended protective gear ¤ Knee pads ± Handgun rental fee is $75.00 ¤ Must use Alaska Tactical ammunition if renting a firearm ¤ Cost of ammunition is not included in handgun rental fee ± Brown bag lunch and water ¤ Refreshments will not be provided by AT&S ± Cost of $500.00 ¤ Cost includes range fees
